"Stanwick Lakes in Stanwick, Northamptonshire opened in January 2006 and is a fantastic attraction. We recently visited Stanwick Lakes for the first time and we were very impressed. Stanwick Lakes is a recreation and wildlife facility which offers fun outdoor activities for both adults and children.
It has a huge childrens play area and is far more sophisticated than a standard childrens play area. There are amazing wooden structures which have slides, climbing nets, assualt courses and many educational features including a very unique water play area where the kids can paddle bare foot or splash in their welly's. My child is two years old and he loved the climbing frames for his age group. For older children, there is a Fort structure which is very challenging and fun. There is also a full size assault course which you can try your hand at!
If you are a lover of nature and wildlife, you can go on walks around the lakes. There are about 7 miles of walks. I saw lots of people cycling around the lakes which looked very relaxing. There is also an adventure trail which suits children, teenagers and adults.
Stanwick Lakes is an ongoing development and there are many things planned including a theatre next to the lake and watersports which will be fantastic.
Unfortunately as it is quite new, there is no cafe, however there is a food and drink kiosk and an ice cream van at peak time. It also costs £2 per car which is a great bargain considering there is so much to do.
I would certainly recommend Stanwick Lakes to anybody looking for a day out (or however long you have) in the Northamptonshire area. If the weather is nice, I recommend taking a picnic and enjoy it in the picnic area.
Don't forget wellies for children or towels - they can get wet in the water play area.
Enjoy."

we read yr report on yr webpage and was invited to join a day out at the lake on monday with friends..we brought our own food and a bbq(a throw away one)..we was questioned by 3 of yr rangers..stateing that no bbq's r not allowed in the park...we repected yr wishs, but there is not signs stateing that bbq's are not allowed...it would be a great idea if all the do's and don't are displayed on a board before everyone enters yr lakes and on yr webpage!
