"We discovered this restaurant about 8 years ago and everytime we visit London we visit Belgo Central for a meal whether it is for a light lunch or for a "foody" night out.
Belgo is located in the heart of Covent Garden in an impressive converted warehouse and is a modern belgian cuisine restuarant. To get into Belgo, you have to walk across a gangplank and descend in an industrial lift (part of the experience). Whilst descending into the restaurant, you are amongst the chefs busy in the open kitchens and really feel the buzz of the place. It's a very busy restaurant and you may have to wait in the bar area and sample a few of the belgian beers before you eat. Bear in mind if you want peace and quiet, Belgo is not for you. There are also two parts to the restaurant. One side is full of long wooden benches so you may sit next to a stranger (I always love this seating arrangement) and the other side has tables to sit with your own group.
The decor is fabulous and the waiters wear a variety of traditional monk habbits. I always find the service quick and friendly.
If you love Mussels you will love Belgo, although there is a variety of different foods to choose from. However, I always stick to what Belgo does best. You can have them in loads of ways, but I always have a kilo pot of mussels with chips and mayonnaise. Make sure you accompany your meal with a beer, as they have the best and biggest selection of Belgian beer - It's the Belgian way!
There are many different offers at Belgo. One of my favourties is "beat the clock" from 5pm to 6.30. There is a selection of dishes and a glass of wine, beer or soft drink all for the price of the time that you order i.e. order at 5pm and the meal is £5.
If you are looking for somewhere to eat in London, make sure you visit Belgo. You will love it!"
