"One of the best places to visit in Scotland, if you ever visit Scotland and miss it out then you are completely nuts, it is just full of wonderful things to see and do you really don't want to miss visiting Edinburgh.
You should try eating at one of the hundreds of places to eat from the café's, restraints, hotels and fast food joints. Go for a walk in one of the many parks. Take the kids the Edinburgh zoo where they can see more than a hundred animals, play in one of the many play parks and have a picnic in one of the picnic areas. Or if they prefer fish take them onto a trip to deep sea world where they can see a wide range of fish, sharks and even frogs and insects.
And why not visit the famous Edinburgh castle, there is a free audio tour available, and a self and table service restaurant available.
Visit the Edinburgh dungeon for the fright of a life I wouldn't not recommend taking small children to this site. Or if you are into the more sporty things why not go karting in Livingston or paintball fighting a good way of working out stress, on of my favourite things to do when I'm in Edinburgh is go to the Museum of Scotland, me and my husband both love it but the little ones aren't as excited about visiting the museum. For a relaxing time why not visit one of the many spa's that Edinburgh has to offer. And if the weather is on you side you can go and spend the day on one of the beaches that surround Edinburgh. For places to stay there are a large selection of hotels, guest houses, B&B's or caravan parks so there is some where to suit every pocket, there are a lot of thing to do in Edinburgh that don't charge you, and the ones that have charges they aren't normally that bad, this is a great place to go on holiday weather you are going on your own, for a romantic couples weekend or a nice family holiday I have been in all three situations and found it to be enjoyable no matter who I visit with"
