"Not really much you can say about this town, its rather small and has an old fashion feel to it, really how many towns now a days can you think of where 80% of the shops are family run businesses the have two butchers, a fish mongers a few bakers and even a fruit and veg shop where there are fruit and veg displayed out side the shop. All the building still have an old day feel about them, they don't look all big company shops, there aren't even any clothes shops in this town, there are a couple of restaurants, café's, they have flower shops, chemists, take always, and a few small local pubs, there are even a few local charity shop, and just of the street there is a really nice play park for the little ones, I take it that all reading this have heard of tunnocks tea cakes, well Uddingston in where they are made and if u wander of the main street and up behind the shops you will see the factory which looks just like the picture on the cakes. And while in uddingston why not stop of and take a look around the Bothwell castle, which when I was first told about it thought I would find it in Bothwell but no it can be found right here in uddingston. If you are staying in uddingston and have access to a car or are willing to take the bus or train then there are many of things you can do for every day activates you can go bowling, see a movie in the cinema or go ice skating there is even an indoor ski slope. In the surrounding there are more historical things for you to visit like the David Livingston centre in Blantyre on foot a mere mile away. Or go into Glasgow which is only 5 miles away where you can go for something to eat, spend hours on end shopping, visit the transport museum, the science museum, or go to East Kilbride where they have a number of country walks. Uddingston is a great place to stay, although there isn't a lot to do in Uddingston its self, it is easy to get to all the bigger towns where there are more activates to do, and to this most people would say why not stay in one of the bigger town, well is you want to go to sleep to the sound of busses driving past every 5 minutes and drunk people walking home then go stay in one of the bigger towns but if you want to fall into bed at night, to nothing more than the sounds of the birds then uddingston is the place to stay and I would say that being 3 miles always from most of the bigger towns is a small price to pay. If you are taking little ones with you then be sure to take them to the soft play area just of the high street where they can play till there heart is content while you sit in the café and have a well deserved cup of coffee and if you want can check your email as well, what more can a parent want."
