The isles of scillySt Mary'S Scilly Isles, Cornwall, England South WestRecommendation added: 29/01/2006 11:13 By: blogpuffle (YSUK rating +2) blogpuffle has been thanked 1 times for this contribution
"Although the scilly isles are situated 30 miles off the cornish coast they do belong to the british isles. The scilly isles consist of 5 islands and lots of uninhabited islands.
The main island is St Mary's with a combined population of 2,000 people this is the most busiest of all the islands. The climate is much warmer than the british isles with no snow and hardly any frost, many tropical plants grow on the isles but these are mainly on Tresco. There are no cars but a few on St Mary's as the island is only 2 mile long and a mile wide,no trains nor any planes fly over the isles so the islands are polution free. With crisp clear surrounding sea the beaches are pure white sand like grains of sugar. The only transport to and from the islands are the scillonan boat, helicopter or sky bus from lands end. Once your there you can get around the islands by either bicycle or boats to the other island for a small fee.The landscapes are quite beautiful from high advantage sites,Scilly's crystal clear waters and conditions make it ideal for sailing and windsurfing enthusiasts, and for diving and snorkelling. It is also good for fishing, whether from the shore or from boats. In the evenings you can take walks along the beach or even take a night boat trip across to St Agnes or St Martins for a relaxing meal in the turks head or just birdwatching.Currency is no different to ours and you don't need a passport. If your thinking of taking a trip to the isles please leave them as you found them."
