"Paignton Zoo is a beautiful place to visit in the Summer. It is a large sprawling zoo and requires some walking to get round, but it feels like a walk in the countryside, rather than a concrete zoo.
It has pretty much every animal you could hope to see in large enclosures that don't look so much like cages.
There is a little train that runs round a section of the park, and plenty of snack stalls, cafes and gift shops as well as a large play area in the centre of the park.
We spent a very full day there and returned home utterly exhausted but happy.
Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is situated on the A3022 Totnes Road, 1 mile from Paignton town centre. Once in Paignton follow the brown tourist signs, marked with an elephant and Zoological Gardens.
Doors open at 10 am every day but close at varying times according to the season and light. Check the website www.paigntonzoo.org.uk
