"On Valentine's Day we were let down by our usual restaurant because they had double booked. We decided to try out a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before. After a quick search on google, we were directed to a website that lists restaurants in & around your area. We clicked on the Peartree Restaurant and decided to give it a go.

And I'm sure glad we did. It's situated just outside Auchterhouse, which is about 5 mins drive from Birkhill in Dundee. Its located next to Auchterhouse County Sports Complex, which offers everything from Quad biking to Clay Pigeon Shooting. We arrived and were given what I thought was the best seat in the house with a nice view outside to watch the clay pigeon shooting teams, the restaurant is very well soundproofed, whilst the teams were shooting I was worried it would spoil my meal but I hardly noticed them and it was nice to have something to watch whilst my partner nipped to the loo.

The restaurant itself is a wooden structure which in itself is an amazing sight, with exposed timbers and timber cladding throughout. It's not a big restaurant, it seats about ten tables or so, but it's homely and cosy.

The restaurant is Italian run, thus ensuring good quality food. We even got to meet the head chef, who came and introduced himself. The staff were very helpful, quick to respond and patient, when I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted, there was a lot of food to choose from. They specialise in Italian Foods, pastas etc, fajitas and Steak.

Now on to the important stuff, the food. What can I say it was amazing. I picked Chargrilled Chicken & Chips and my Partner had the Special, which was Pork fillet with Parma Ham & cheese in breadcrumbs with a special sauce and boiled potatoes - it was heaven. I ate till i thought i was going to pop. Best Of all it was cheap in comparison to our usual restaurants, coming in at £32 for two starters, two mains and four drinks. I though it was very good value for money and was very impressed with the service throughout.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, if you fancy a good, filling meal at a reasonable price in an amazing place - this is the restaurant for you.

This restaurant is now under new management and has changed to Scottish Fayre.

It is comfortable, cosy and spotlessly clean. The menus are good value for money - lunchtime is a smaller portion to the evening dinner. You can also pop in for a relaxing cup of tea/coffee and cake. The staff are lovely and very attentive.

Top marks to George Marshall for reinventing this restaurant.
