"Public footpaths allow good views of diverse habitats: lakes, grassland and wooded areas (pine and deciduous). The area as a whole has much to see for the birdwatcher, butterfly or moth enthusiast, fauna and flora lover. The site is owned by Essex and Suffolk Water.
The best starting point is at the public footpath on Hall Road. To get to Hall Road you will need to walk cycle or drive. From Great Yarmouth drive towards Lowestoft on the A12, go past the James Paget Hospital and turn right at the roundabout. When you reach the next roundabout turn left; follow this road for 1.5 miles past some houses until you reach a left bend. Turn right onto Hall Road. The footpath is about three quarters of a mile down this road on the left where you will see the layby.
Birds: Goshawks can be seen here as can Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. In the autumn and through the winter many geese arrive. Past rarities include Snow, Bar-headed and Ross's Geese. The site gets many migrants in spring and autumn.
Access: Access is over stiles and dogs are not allowed in the lakes as they are for public drinking water.
Parking: There are two main access points with laybys to park.
Key areas/routes: By following the public footpaths you will go past all the habitats."
