"The Norfolk Lavender Centre is a very relaxing attraction for all ages (admission free). Located in Heacham, North Norfolk, Norfolk Lavender is just off the A149. You will instantly recognise it when the Lavender fields are in bloom for the sea of mauve. Apparently there are over 100 varieties.
This was my first visit to the centre and I would certainly make more visits in the future to stock up on lavender luxuries and plants.
There is lots to do at the Centre although you can pop in for 10 minutes or make a full /morning/afternoon of it.
The Fragrant Plant Centre offers a fabulous choice of plants including many different varieties of lavenders, herbs and plants. There is also a wooden children's play area located in the plant centre which is great if you want to browse in peace.
There is a relaxing herb garden where you can see 55 different sorts of herbs all in individual beds. You can buy most of the herbs from the plant centre.
3 gift shops are open which offer many different items from gardening equipment, cooking products and lavender fragrance products. Always a fantastic idea to stock up on unique and special gifts for family and friends here.
You can round off your visit with a variety of teas, herbal teas and coffees in the Tea Room. You can also have cakes, scones, cream teas, snacks, sandwiches and hot dishes. We sat in a quaint patio area which was surrounded by fragrant lavender plants. It might not surprise you that with such a foo facility, picnics are not allowed in the centre.
The centre offers guided tours of the Garden, Distillery and Lavender fields. I haven't actually taken a tour so I can't really recommend them, however they cost approximately £3.00 per adult."
