"I went down to Portsmouth for a wedding and tried to get a hotel as near as possible but me being me I had no idea what I was doing and ended up booking one on Hayling Island. Then I panicked that I would have to get a ferry out to the island thanks to my Mom pulling my leg but once I knew I could drive there I felt better. Anyway so I booked the Langstone Hotel for the night and as it was a four star and had a very good website I was quite excited about it. What I found was a very sweet hotel in a very prime place in a beautiful little island.

Where is the Langstone Hotel?
The Langstone Hotel is located on Hayling Island just off the south coast approximately fifteen miles away from Portsmouth city centre. The address is as follows;
Northney Road
Hayling Island
Hampshire
PO11 0NQ

The Hotel:
The Hotel is a four star one and as you drive over to the island it is sign posted so you can see exactly where it is and cannot get lost if you tried. As you are crossing over the bridge to the Island you will see the hotel on the left hand side and it is one huge hotel. When you get there you will see it is right by the Marina which is quite small but sweet and worth a walk around.
The car park is huge and there is an overspill car park too so you will never have a problem finding a space. It is easy to navigate around the car park and there are entrances all around.
The hotel looks impressive and the entrance is very nice looking with space for taxis to come right up to it and pick people up which is a good idea. You walk into the hotel and you come across the reception area where all of the staff are very helpful indeed. Everywhere looks very clean but there are psychedelic carpets all over the place so not good if you are a little drunk as I found out later that night.
To the right is the bar and the harbour lights restaurant. Then on the left is where you go to get to your hotel rooms.

The Rooms:
As you walk to your rooms I will warn you it will take a while as there are so many. Our room was a good ten minute walk away from the reception area but as you walk through there are anchors and other sea things around to keep you occupied. Also as you walk through there are occasional seating areas with views of the island which is really nice and I can imagine get used a lot.
I walked into our room and you open the doors using a card key which is good. The rooms are quite small but have everything you need so a bathroom, a bed, a wardrobe and a small seating area for eating. Our room had a great view over the island and we could also see the marina. The windows open quite wide so you can get fresh air into the room and everything is very clean.
The carpets again are quite psychedelic but the bathroom is amazing with a huge bath and a great power shower which I really appreciated. The bed is very comfortable and I actually got a good nights sleep which is rare for me in a hotel room. The rooms get cleaned daily so you don't have to worry about them ever getting dirty and there is soap, shampoo and shower gel there to be used.

The Bar:
The bar is very sweet and the bold colours continue through with bright red chairs and carpets throughout. The drinks are reasonably priced, about the same as everywhere so you don't have any surprises. The staff are friendly and the bar is open till late as far as I could tell as I got back to the hotel at 12 and people were still in there and it is a very lively and fun atmosphere.

The Restaurant:
We ate breakfast in the restaurant and it is lovely in there. The seats are comfortable and it has one of those atmospheres that you can just sit and relax and know you are getting good service. Our food was lovely and priced at £5 per breakfast which is not too bad at all. I had a sneak peak at the menus for the lunch and evening meals and they looked lovely and priced as you expect. There was a good selection available and the restaurant is only open for certain hours during the day. The breakfast was open 8 till 10 but I am not sure about the others.

Price:
I suppose I should tell you the price of staying at the hotel. We paid £70 for one night for a double room which I think for a four star hotel was very reasonable. The hotel has hundreds of rooms and is in a great location to reach all of the sights of Portsmouth and to see this Hayling Island which is lovely.

Verdict:
I think this hotel did us very well as it was in a good spot and offered a lot of services. I was even reading through the room service menu and there were lots on there to get served 24 hours a day which I thought was pretty special. It was nice and clean with very friendly staff so I don't think you can really expect anything more.
In conclusion this hotel gets top marks from me because I think it is a good four star hotel and I would definitely visit again if I am ever down in that area again. I would recommend as it had a nice feel to be on a different island completely which was good and you really do get the impression that you are in the middle of nowhere which I love.
