"I wouldn't normally go out for a meal at lunch time but as my friend traveled over 200 miles to see me i thought it would be a nice surprise to take her to a restaurant. Crawley has many restaurants catering to every taste and occasion however this one particular restaurant caught our eye whilst making our way through the hustle and bustle of town. The outside has a rustic look with a modern touch, yet inside has an open plan design which i can only describe as what i would imagine an Italian cafe in Venice to be like. The 'ASK' restaurant chain was founded by Ainsley Harriet so I am told, and serves Italian dishes fusing some unlikely ingredients with traditional Italian ingredients to make a dish blended to perfection, not too rich but well balanced. I had the garlic bread for starters with a main course of walnut, Gorgonzola's and spinach pasta with a cream sauce, it was very filling and large portions. The friendly staff introduced me to the tempting desert menu which I have to admit looked rather impressive and after much debating settled for the banoffee pie - heavenly!
After a glass of white whine the bill was a must, and such a surprise the bill had only come to £35 including drinks and desserts, we were very impressed. The staff were friendly and professional and were very attentive to our needs. Im not a huge lover of Italian as I don't particularly like tomato sauces however the range of dishes were very diverse giving many choices, especially for vegetarians and the price was amazing. Definitely will be returning here regularly, five stars!" | |
