"Well what can one say about such a great place, well I have been 3 times now since I moved close enough to go and visit and there are still parts of it I haven't seen the place is just so big you can never truly see everything in one visit, just the walk its self makes a great day out for all the family all though it is a little harder if you have a pram or pushchair with you as most of the zoo is up hill. Every so often along the way they have picnic benches, they have little shop/cafes where you can get drinks ice loll and something to eat, also at these points they have toilets and baby changing facilities so you are never to far away from one, most of the shops are only open during the summer and other busy times of the year, if your not into walking much why not go for a ride with the hill top safari where you can go for a nice leisurely ride to the top of the hill where the zebras live
On of the best things to see is the penguin parade this is the one thing you can not miss when you go to visit any one who has ever been to the zoo will talk non stop about this it truly is a must see, the parade is a short walk around the penguin area of the zoo at 2.15pm and is totally voluntary for the penguins so sometime there may be the disappointment that non of them wish to do it that day, The sea lion show is also another one to watch, they have the sea lions doing basic tricks and the also feed them at the same time, as soon as it was over my little boy wanted to watch it again he just couldn't get enough of it. If you are hungry while there or just don't feel like taking a picnic with you then why no go to the mansion house for a nice relaxed meal, or you could also go to the sripes cafeteria where they sell meals and refreshments all day long. If you have a flyer remember to take it with you if you stop of at the gift shop as it will get you £1 of every £10 you spend in there. Edinburgh zoo is open all year round, and some of the animals you can see here are then Penguins Chimps which will be moving to the new budongo in 2008 Steller's sea eagles Sea lions Crane Painted hunting dogs Flamingos Monkeys The Indian one horned rhinos Owls Lions and tigers Zebras Jaguars Bongo Polar bear Pygmy hippo And my favourites the koalas" | |
