"Having lived in Burnley for a little over two years now, my partner and I have spent many Friday nights 'chancing it' with takeaways ordered from any old menu that has been posted through our door. We've had many misses, but I'm pleased to say we've finally found a fantastic hit.
The Suruchi is an Indian takeaway restaurant located on Briercliffe road, opposite the Baltic Fleet pub. The do deliver but if you choose to pop in to order your food you'll receive a very friendly welcome and a decent cup of tea or coffee while you wait for your food.
I won't bore you with the details of how we discovered this delightful takeaway but needless to say, we haven't looked back since. The food is fantastic. I like to think I am a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to onion bahjis and the Suruchi's are out of this world. They are the freshest, lightest balls of onion loveliness that I have ever had from any takeaway restaurant.
The curries are also delicious. My partner is quickly working his way through the menu and has yet to be disappointed. I on the other hand don't like anything too hot but the mild and medium curries I have eaten have been mouth wateringly tasty. The staff are extremely friendly and polite and very approachable if you have any queries about the menu or specific requests. They are more than pleased to accommodate for my strange wishes and often make milder versions of hot dishes if asked.
The prices are reasonable and the portions are quite large. The other half and I usually order two starters, two mains, rice and garlic nan breads and the average cost is £12-£15. We always end up with freebies too, usually puppadoms and a side dish. The Suruchi offers a fun reward scheme where you receive a token every time you place an order. On your sixth visit or delivery, you can exchange them for a free curry of your choice.
So next time you're in Burnley and you fancy something spicy, give the Suruchi a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed."
