"When myself and my fiancé decided that to make our house a home we really needed a pet, it became obvious that we needed to get a cat as we work full time and it would be unfair on a dog. I was so excited about getting a kitten and had always said that I would get a rescue kitten if we were to have one as there are so many abandoned each year that it would only be fair.

We stumbled on Stone Cat Rescue by mistake actually but when we had found them we were extremely pleased. I called them up from the number on their website and they helped me so much by arranging a home visit that week. They did ask me when was suitable and they were very flexible on times and days to meet which was great due to my work.

The home visit from them was fantastic with a very nice lady coming to do it. She checks that you are good owners as they have fantastic relationships with their cats. They don't assign them numbers as they say it is too impersonal so they all have names and they are all wormed, flea'd and adult cats are all neutered so you really don't have to worry about the cats / kittens not been looked after.

After the home visit we called the owner up and went around to collect our kitten. The actual place is wonderful and all of the cats are happy with loads of toys and they were all very friendly. We were allowed to choose from the kittens there and when we chose our little Harry it was fantastic as he is a lovely little Tuxedo cat who is a marvellous addition to our small family.

You have to give Stone Cat Rescue a donation of £20 for each kitten you take from them but they do give you about a weeks worth of food, some toys and booklets to read about owing a kitten. With Harry because he had a favourite toy they gave us that as well as they couldn't bear to see him going away without it.

They home kittens and cats that have been abandoned or donated and they get loads a year. They are a lovely organisation as they look after the cats really well including paying all vets fees they may need and they give you as much help as they can. For instance our little kitten had been stung and given antibiotics to help him recover. They said that if the bump hadn't gone down to go back and they would cover all of the vets fees, they truly were wonderful.

Plus they are so efficient and enthusiastic about what they do. We had problems with feral kittens and one was very close to dying. They came around straight away when we found this kitten and paid so much to the vets to get him looked after and then followed the situation up with me so I knew what was going on.

I think that if I ever do get another little kitten or cat I will actually get it from them as they were such nice people and obviously love cats so much. The best part about it is that they will not put any healthy animal down and will keep fighting for them. While they are in their care they look after them so well and I cannot stress that enough. I think they are great and the ladies running it are lovely and I can't fault them at all.

Thanks for reading.
