"Recently I have become quite enamoured with golfing so I try to visit the golfing range every week in order to practice. I was delighted to find that there was one only 5 minutes down the road from me in the middle of the countryside.


Fishley Park is primarily a golfing range with pitch and putt, a snooker lounge, bar and shop with refreshments. Right now I will only discuss the actual driving range they have there.

Location
At first look coming in it is located in a lovely spot, pretty much in the middle of fields where you would think you have found some countryside in the middle of Walsall (shock horror). It is a bit difficult to find as it does involve going into some twisty country lanes with barely any signs but once you know where to look its easy. Located just outside of Pelsall and adjacent to Bloxwich it's an accessible place for many people in the borough of Walsall. Times
It is actually a brilliant place as its open quite late every day. On Mondays to Saturdays it's open to about 9pm and on Sundays it's open to 7pm. So if you want to relieve some stress after work by hitting a few balls you are pretty much guaranteed a bay as it's fairly quiet at night. Now I know what you're thinking, night time, how to see the balls. Well when it gets a little too dark they are kind enough to put on floodlights to make it easier. They also use florescent yellow balls so you won't have that much difficulty in spotting where your ball has gone.

Driving range

Well the actual range is all in all very pleasant. Overlooking fields, plenty of space and greenery it makes for a pretty relaxing atmosphere. There are 14 bays in the area but don't stress, it rarely gets busy enough for you not to find a bay. The bays in themselves are quite self explanatory; they have a green mat with a tee on. Each bay varies in the tee that it has, some have small and some have tall tees which I find useful as you can practice with different clubs on different tees. Each bay has a small wooden fence on either side that is big enough so you have some privacy in your swings but small enough so you can chat to the person next to you.
The distance you can hit to is pretty far, well over 300 yards so if you can hit hard, you can hit as far as you want without fear of hitting someone on the other side!

Prices
For a small basket that has approximately 70 balls in will cost you £2.50 however you can get a large basket which has 100 balls in for £3.00 so I would just recommend paying the extra 50 pence. Depending on how good you are and how fast you like to play the amount of time you can spend per basket does vary. On average I spend about one hour per 100 balls so £3.00 for an hours fun is quite good value.

Staff
The staffs are pleasant and are always on hand to help if you need anything and are always ready to answer questions.

Tuition
You can if you so need it get tuition at the driving range in order to help you with your swing. For £15 you can get half hour tuition or pay £60 for 4 lessons. I have yet to take any lessons so unfortunately I cannot comment on this.

General information
Parking is very good, lots of spaces, never any worries about that.
Children are welcome; they can even get tuition cheaper than adults.

Overall it is a pleasant driving range with lots to offer and a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon practicing your golf swing."
