"The Old House at Home is a pub located in the centre of Pelsall, a small village a few miles north of Walsall in the West Midlands. To get there all you need to do is catch one of the buses that depart from stand K at Walsall bus depot, this will take you right into Pelsall and one of the bus stops is directly across from the pub.
From the outside it looks very nice and modern and is quite inviting. There is a garden outside with a few tables and chairs with large parasols, so in the summer is it quite a nice pub to visit and sit outside. The car park isn't overly large but it can accommodate around 30 cars. On some nights it can get a bit packed and parking is hard but this isn't very often. The inside of the pub is really in two parts, one side which had a plasma television which is really the side if you're going for a pint or two. The other side is primarily for meals. The chairs are quite comfy and there are many tables and chairs so there is always room to sit down. The price of the food and drinks is quite fair and is pretty much the norm for all pubs. The food is quite good for its value. The Old House occasionally has some offer such as two meals get one free. Or curry nights where the curries are very low priced. They have the “Golden Greats” menu which has a few choices on it where you can have a meal and a dessert for £3.95. My friends and I sometimes go out for lunch here, have a coke and a meal from this menu and it only costs us £5! So the food is actually well priced and the menu is quite large with all the options you could want. The food is alright, not the best, but what you would expect from a pub meal. The quiz night is what we mainly go for. Thursday and Sunday nights this occurs when dozens of people form teams and a quiz commences. It lasts for a couple of hours and has dozens of questions from present events and general knowledge. It is a fun night and the place has a good atmosphere when the quiz is on. It only costs a pound to join in and the prize is usually in the area of £70-75 so it's worth it if you have a good team! The service is quite good and always very friendly. They could be a bit quicker with serving you but they are all quite young so it might be a bit intimidating for them to have loads of people screaming orders at them! Overall it's a good pub if you fancy a quick drink or meal out with your mates. It's a great place to be if there is a sporting event occurring, the atmosphere is fantastic! The prices are great, service friendly and a local place with a good reputation. Also kids are welcome until 8pm so its quite a family pub also. So I recommend The Old House at Home as a pub to visit if you're ever in the area. Address: Norton Road, Pelsall, Walsall, West Midlands, WS3 4NT Telephone number: 01922-682011" | |
