"When we were in London we had travelled out to find a sweet shop on the day we were going home. In all of the excitement we had forgot to eat and therefore after going to the shop we were starving. Luckily for us on our way back to the tube we found Hamburger union and swiftly went in to get some food. What we found was a very nice and very affordable take out and here is why.

Now there are quite a few of these places in and around London but this review is about the one we went to. Now in terms of location it was in a great place. Right by Covent Garden and by our sweet shop we went to, and right by a tube station so easy to get to and in a great place if you are doing other things in London too. There were lots of roads around and people were parking by it so I am sure if you are confident and know your way around London you could probably park right by it.
In terms of appearance from the outside it reminds me of a very old fashioned tea room. A brown sign with Hamburger Union written in massive letters and tables in the window it did look like something from the 1960s. I found this instantly sweet and as soon as we walked past and smelt all of the delicious food we had to go in.
When you walk in the first thing you notice is that everything is so clean and spotless which lets face it, is quite unusual for a take away restaurant. You order your food first at a small counter and you have quite a choice. Mostly you can get burgers which were all around the £5 mark. Then you can get chips, salad, vegetarian burgers, milk shakes, smoothies, wines and also beers which was funny to see.
We had burgers and chips and milk shakes which were £3 each but they were big so worth it.
When you have ordered you go through to the main dining area which has lots of square tables and seats around and reminds you even more of something you see on films from the 60's. It all looks so lovely and so different and so old but yet so modern at the same time. In fact it actually looks a lot more like a restaurant than a take away. It was very busy in there so I get the idea that a lot of people know about this place and they have a lot of repeat visitors.
You can see them cooking the food from the seating area and there are a lot of staff so if you want something else or if you want to just ask them a question then you can go ahead. Everybody was very friendly and they take care over their food as I was talking to one member of staff and they were saying they had a good reputation to keep over London so they always did the best that they could.
When our food came, the mils shakes were huge and delicious and the portions of burger and chips were more than ample which was brilliant. My burger had lots of salad and there were sauces on the table that we could help ourselves to. The portions were enough to fill us up and the chips were just divine. I think for the price you pay you do get enough for your money and it was delicious.
This place has a nice feel to it and you feel like you are in a very good restaurant while you are in there and not just a fast food restaurant. I really enjoyed it and was glad we stumbled across it as I was starving and Hamburger Union did the trick. I think if you are in London and you need a quick fix of food then I don't think you can really go wrong going here.
All in all a pleasant visit and it was nice to see such a vast range of choices on the menu. It looked to me like they have a god standing n all of their different locations which is nice and I think that everybody who steps through those doors do enjoy themselves a lot.
I would have to recommend to all if you find yourselves by one, try it, you wont be disappointed – even if you don't like hamburgers!
