"We went for a family sunday lunch at the Toby Carvery in Bedford and I would reccommend it. I don't usually like chained restaurants but this serves good quality food with no fuss. There were four adults and one new born baby and they seated us in an area where we could easily put the pram (unlike other establishments that can be can funny about prams and babies).
We were told that it would be a half-hour wait but we didn't mind as it was Sunday lunchtime and we didn't have to make a prior booking. So we got ourselves a drink to relax and wait for to be seated in the restaurant area. In the end we only had to wait for around 10 minutes which was great as the smell of the food was making my mouth water!
We could have had a starter but we went straight for the roast dinner and piled our plates high! You can have any of three meats (all if you like): beef, turkey or gammon, all are cooked very nicely. Or, you could go for lamb on it's one or the vegetarian option. Then you can help yourself to as many yummy vegetables as you like. We chose from brocolli, carrots, cauliflower cheese(these are just the ones can remember!), new potatoes or roasties. Oh and I forgot to mention huge individual yorkshire puddings and stuffing balls - yum yum!
After this we opted to share three desserts between the four of us, an ice-cream sundae, ice-cream with butterscotch sauce and an apple crumble. The latter two were very tasty, but the strawberry sauce in the sundae wasn't to my friend's liking.
The restaurant itself is cosy and warmly lit. It is busy but more of a nice bustle than too hectic and we didn't have to queue for long at all.
It was a very busy car park but with lots of spaces and we did manage to get one."
