"Last June my family and I visited London and one of the places that we really wanted to visit was the Natural History Museum. I have to say that it was one of the best afternoons I have ever spent when we were there.

Located in central London the easiest way to get there is by catching the tube and getting off at South Kensington. From here it is only a ten minute walk and is pretty hard to miss as it's a massive building.

It takes hours to walk around the museum; we were there for about 4 hours and only saw about half of the museum. They have different sections such as a place for insects, sea creatures, the body and dinosaurs. I think the dinosaur part is probably the most famous part of the museum and the best. Indeed as soon as you walk in you are greeted by a massive skeletal dinosaur. The different parts have loads of information which is extremely interesting to read. The dinosaur part is great and has loads of skeletons and bones of different ones which are great to look at. They have a place which houses a full scale model of a great whale which is absolutely massive and takes up an entire room!

There is a café there which serves basic food and lots of gift shops filled with presents you can buy people and books full of information.

Entry is free which I find amazing, you only need to pay if you want to go into the special exhibitions they have on sometimes. We didn't go but they had an ice exhibit while we visited.

An amazing day out for the family, but I wouldn't recommend taking very young children as it could be overwhelming for them and they wouldn't take in all of the information. You can sometimes have to wait a long time to get in so I would recommend getting there early. Overall a great place to visit with tones of information, completely recommend.

The Natural History Museum is open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 17:50pm
Address: Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7 5BD, UK.
