"We've previously been disappointed with takeaways - often things are not as freshly prepared as are promised, the rice has seen better days or the meat not very inspiring. Mumbai Spice came highly recommended to us, so we thought it was worth a try.
The menu is very easy to use, you select what you would like in your curry, vegetables, Paneer (Indian cheese), chicken, chicken tikka, prawns, king prawn, fish, lamb, keema (mince), lamb kofta, or a mix. Then choose your sauce - handily grouped in spice intensity.
We didn't think we would need starters, so went straight for the main course. So for the three of us, I ordered lamb bhuna for myself, fish balti and tandoori fish for the other 2 in the household, with bombay potatoes, 2 portions of steamed rice and a plain naan. I didn't take much notice of how long it took to be delivered, but it wasn't too long, or suspiciously quickly either! It came nice and hot with a generous amount of popadoms and relishes on the side.
So was it worthy of all those recommendations to us? Oh yes! This had to be the first time we've ordered a takeaway for there to be nothing left over. Not because the portions weren't generous, they were. But it was all so very good. My lamb was all beautifully trimmed and melting. The sauces were well balanced and fresh tasting. The fish was perfect - we couldn't have cooked it better at home, and we do cook a lot. We aren't easy to please.
Prices? That lot delivered cost us £29. And we will be ordering from them again with a bigger order too next time. We've promised it to my parents when they next visit. So if you get one of their leaflets through the door, give them a try!"
