"Roll up roll up the circus is in town. Billy Smart's circus is currently touring the UK I went on Monday while it was Armley, Leeds. I was excited when I spotted the Circus was coming to my area I couldn't believe my luck when I managed to blag myself some free tickets too.
Billy Smarts was the Winner of the 'Britain's Best Circus 2007' award, it is a all human production with aerial performances, gymnastics, clowns, jugglers so no need to worry about any animal cruelty as there aren't any performing.
We went for a afternoon performance at 4.45 we arrived in good time and didn't have to wait long to get in an take our seat. We were able to sit anywhere within our allocated area. I thought ahead and sat my son behind some other young children so he would be able to see everything. Some acts do involve the audience with in there performance so you might want to consider this went choosing your seat. You might want to sit further back if you don't want to be pulled into the ring. We had great views of everything all the seats looked like you get good views.
They have lots of acts. I found my jaw dropping on a few occasions at some of the amazing stunts the performers could do. The talent was amazing I didn't think it was humanly possible for anyone to do a lot of the tricks performed. I'd certainly rate many of the acts with 10 out of 10. My personal favourites were The Bull Dancers trapeze act that had me on the edge of seat for the whole performance and fearing for there personal safety.The Illusionists and Magic Act Ross Presto & Company was brilliant too I couldn't work out how they had any of the trick it must simply have been magic. Also another act that stuck in my mind was Miss Uelon-jon a Mongolian foot juggler who act was like nothing I'd seen before totally brilliant. The clown who kept popping up throughout the show was also very funny.
There is food available from the circus and soft drinks and well as popcorn and candy floss. Light up toys can be bought for the children which range from 4 to 5 pounds. The circus also runs a raffle for soft toys which is drawn during the interval. The whole show last 2 hours and I loved that this was traditional family entertainment and fun for young and old alike.
Tickets prices range from 10 pounds for the Rear circle Adult ticket 8 pounds for a childs ticket upto 20 pounds for a ringside adult seat. But local shops displaying the poster may have half price discount vouchers so look out for them.
