"It's amazing how much you can fit into such a small space, something I'm sure you'll understand when you see the place. Nevertheless, crammed into this small building, situated on the corner of Staithe Street and Station Road, is a full-featured and extremely comfortable bar, and an award-winning restaurant.
The bar is modern, stylish and comfortable. There's no Guinness, alas, but Budvar and a number of other lagers appear on tap, accompanied by at least two guest ales - usually three. Additionally, there's Hoegaarden, for those who like the taste, and Leffe blond, both very popular amongst the local clientele, myself included!
The restaurant richly deserves its awards, though with prices in the range of fifteen pounds for a main course you're expecting some sort of quality offering. You won't be disappointed, rest assured, and if your pockets don't stretch to that kind of bill you'll find ample opportunity to sample special offer menus, often at a knock-down rate of eight or nine pounds. Recent offers have included a crab boil, steak night and the Corner House mixed grill.
Live music takes place every Friday, sometimes more often. Due to the size of the place this is usually one, maybe two, people and varies from acoustic, bluesy cover bands to Tom Waits tribute bands with a bit of a Bob Dylan influence. Amazing stuff, and guaranteed to pack the place out."
