"If I had to recommend one thing in Newcastle, to locals and visitors alike, it would be the Tyneside Cinema. A 4 screen 1930s cinema which provides a wonderful alternative to the usual, boring multiplex blockbusters. Not only do you get the chance to see films you just wouldn't see elsewhere - international films, indie films, old newsreels, and the best of the mainstream - you get to see them in such a great environment. Original 1930s decor, 3 cafes (two of the screens are liscenced so you can take your drink in to see the film!) and all right in the city centre. Every town should have one! The Tyneside is on Pilgrim Street and they have a good website for up to date listings and more information: tynecine.org"
