"Last week we took the kids to Corby's much hyped new olympic sized swimming pool, and I've got to say it, I was impressed!
A few friends had been already and warned us about the queues to get in. It is the school holiday and with the government's scheme that allows children in free, meant it was bound to be very popular. Some kids in the queue just ahead of us were boasting that they'd been twice that day already. I suppose it's better than them hanging around the street, but if it means it takes an hour to get it, you can't help thinking there should be some sort of limit of usage. After a fairly long wait to get it, we went to pay. Prices to swim at corby pool: At opening the prices to swim were as follow: Adults £3.00 OAP £1.50 Kids go free Pretty excellent I thought. We proceeded to the very spacious and sparklingly new changing rooms. There are simply loads of induvidual rooms to get out of your kit and into your trunks. What was very impressive was the large amount of family rooms. When you've got two toddlers, this is a huge bonus. It means you can sort them out, then yourselves without tripping over each other while avoiding the inevitable jacket in a puddle problem. Even the lockers are good. They're free to use and electronic. You choose a locker, and hold it shut while putting your bracelet to a panel. The panel then remembers the locker you've chosed. When your Swim is over, you put your bracelet to the sensor and it tells you which locker you used. Very simple and effective. No more panicing when you realise you haven't got a 20p piece!!! The actual swimming pools. The whole thing is very cleverly designed in that the massive olympic pool can be split into different sections. On our day there were two parts to the pool and a separate kiddies pool. The kids pool is excellent in itself. It's designed like a ship with a crocodile and buckets constantly emptying water over you - thrown in. The water was a perfect temperature. This was all we experienced, and there's loads more here, including gym, sauna, lessons etc etc. When we try them we'll keep you posted. All in all we were well impressed. Apart from the teething problem with the wait to get in, they've got it perfect. Corby is very lucky to get such an impressive and useful new facility." | |
Comments Submitted by josie on Friday, 13th November 2009, 9:53am First started using the pool about a month ago and can't get enough now, fantastic facilities, spotlessly clean, a really nice environment for either motivating yourself or relaxing. Haven't used the gym yet but do intend to. Submitted by Mikey on Tuesday, 3rd November 2009, 4:10pm Can I just add that the GYM is fantastic too. £20 for induction, then £4.50 per session afterwards. Excellent value for such a well equipped gym.Submitted by andyN on Tuesday, 25th August 2009, 6:48pm Corby pool rocks!!!Submitted by boobo on Tuesday, 25th August 2009, 9:47am we're from kettering.
