"What a lovely place in a strange location, had heard a lot of good things about this place so decided to try it out. There was five of us that went, Boyfriend, Boyfriend's mother, Boyfriends farther and Boyfriends Brother not every one's idea of a great night out with the in-laws but always good fun with this lot. We got a large Taxi from Crossgates to the restaurant about £11 and when he dropped us off I looked around and thought he was doing us over. We seemed to be in the middle of a lovely development of new flats, very pretty, very quiet with an almost North American feel but no restaurant? We turned a corner and there it was in all its twinkling glory standing proud in a little corner of a pretty Plaza.
The five of us love eating out, and always make a night of it, the full works, pre-dinner drinks, full three courses, coffee and usually Port for the boys while I finish of my wine. So it is important for us to not be rushed. On arrival I noticed the outdoor seating area lit with fairy lights and thought it would make a lovely evening if it was not the middle of winter. The restaurant is lovely with exposed brick work a traditional looking bar really well stocked and lots of pictures relating to Leeds, perfect for the patriotic Yorkshire man and I had three with me! There is a small seating area for pre-dinner drinks but to be honest this is small and gets really busy so I would maybe recommend going else where for drinks pre-dinner. The dinner was amazing, good quality English food and the service was really good we asked for a break between starters and mains and we got exactly what we asked for. The restaurant is really intimate and perfect for couples and groups. You do get a few people just going for drinks and getting slightly merry, I think this is because it is surrounded by the newly developed flats and it is quite a trendy place to be. Anyway really enjoyed the meal, company and setting, I don't have the best hearing in the world and struggle with the acoustics in some restaurants, not a problem here as there are not too many tables. I have heard that The Foundry offer a chauffer service picking up and dropping off which sounds brilliant but I have not taken advantage of this yet so can not comment. It is on my list of places to re-visit and would recommend this restaurant for everyone that likes quality food and good service in a lovely environment. Dont let the postcode put you off it's just outside the City centre around a 25minute walk but from the train station a Taxi would only cost you a maximum of £5 I would say." | |
