"What a beautiful place, had not heard that much about this restaurant/bar until it was the venue of choice for our Christmas party 2008. On arrival I was immediately impressed, my coat was taken and put into the cloak room and I felt very special all dolled up with work colleagues, the place was nicely decorated for Christmas and just needed some snow flakes falling passed the window. The restaurant has a happy hour up until 7:00pm and I ordered a glass of the house red for around £2.50 half price I believe. While I was sat with my colleagues getting slightly merry I remember feeling disappointed that my boyfriend had never brought me here as we eat out a lot in Leeds, it seemed the perfect setting for a romantic night.
We were seated on time and were nicely tucked away in one corner as there was about 20 of us. We had pre-ordered already and I was really looking forward to the meal. Our company footed the bill but I think the package including wine cost around £30 per head. Wine very good! Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations  The trouble started with starters and some had finished their starters before others had even received theirs, one colleagues starter was cold and when she complained she was sort of grumbled at but they did begrudgingly bring out another starter for her. obviously by this time she was the only one still eating. Main course was not much better and people with the turkey option were very disappointed with the quantity and presentation. Personally I had Sea bass which was quite tasty but not very warm. Dessert was similar to starter some people had finished before others had started and various people had complained about different aspects of their meal to be met with unsympathetic and half hearted apologise. I was tempted to nip into MacDonald's on the way out …. Small, small portions. Now I understand that it must be difficult to cater for a large party on top of usual customers but if this meal wasn't paid for by my company then it wouldn't have been paid for by me. This said I decided several months later to give this place another shot as I was meeting a friend for lunch, I had heard they had a lunch offer on for £7 on selected meals so thought it deserved a chance to redeem itself. I was still impressed with the service received by the greeter/host who took our coats and sat us at our table and once again the menu looked lovely with a selected few dishes available for £7 (this was a special offer not full price) I settled on a fancy burger and my friend on macaroni Cheese which I was quite fancying myself. Food arrives…….. My burger was just that a burger, no sides or accompaniments and my friend's macaroni cheese was in a tiny Ruskin again with no sides. I think I got the best deal as while I was sat munching on my burger my friend was looking less than impressed with her meal and on tasting it was glad I had made my choice. Feeling less than full and with half the macaroni cheese left we paid and left once again contemplating a stop at MacDonald's on the way back to work. Go for drinks as lovely setting but avoid for meals." | |
