"Wow do not judge a book by it's cover this place is brilliant with a really nice family feel, cosy, intimate and feels a lot more authentic than most. Around the bar area are pictures of various famous people that have also enjoyed the dining experience. I have had a different dish every time I have been and loved every single one so far. On the last occasion I asked for a recommendation from the owner who after quizzing me on my likes and dislikes told me to leave it to him and he will cook me a special dish personally, I still have no idea what I had but it was a fish dish and was amazing, made me feel very special to have a dish cooked all for myself and adds to that intimate dining experience. Recently a rather posh looking Indian restaurant has opened next door but although I am yet to eat here I would still recommend eating at this place over the posh, gimmicky looking one next door. It was taken over by the current owner in 1990 and has a brilliant reputation all through out Yorkshire. A main dish is between £6 - £8 and with a full meal and drinks you are looking at between £15 - £20 a head and worth every penny. My mouth is watering just writing this review and to be honest although I stated in a previous review that Akbars was my favourite Indian in Leeds after re-living my dining experience here I may have to revoke that as this is definitely up there with the best. Go early in the evening or make a reservation as it does get very busy. If you live in the area they do also offer a takeaway service although I have not yet tried this as live a little further away. This little gem is open from 5:00pm until late each night and the only thing to think about is parking if you drive as parking is limited.
For those that do not know the area to well it is directly opposite the cinema complex which also includes bowling so make a night of it and catch a file either before or after a spectacular dinner!" | |
