"1500 acres of park and woodland this place really is a must for all ages and groups, there really is something for every one. Enjoy a walk long or short around rose gardens, lakes, the old farm buildings which is still part of a working farm, wander around the Stately house itself and just explore one of the great historic estates in England. If you time it right then there are some stunning Rhododendron and other wildlife walks. I spend a lot of time here with it being just down the road and never get bored of watching the dog walkers playing, the children running and the lovebirds cuddling and all is superbly kept litter and chav free.
Temple Newsam hosts many events each year from music festivals to fairs, there are always different activities going on such as family activities, demonstrations, guided walks or tours. And for people living in Leeds it offers a free concert, opera in the park in the evening and party in the park the following day, these usually have big names and although I have not dared venture to the party in the park I have been to opera in the park 3 years consecutively and it just gets better and better each year, picnics, candles, lanterns, lots of freebies and big groups of families and friends every where one of the nicest concerts I have ever been to. There is no excuse not to visit as there is no charge for wandering around the beautiful grounds so this is perfect for money tight families, pack up a picnic and take a ball. If you are wanting to spend a little more and explore a bit then the price for admission into the house is £3.43 for adults, £2.44 for children and under 5's are free, the farms ticket price is £3.19 for adults, £1.96 for children and again under 5's are free you can get various combined tickets and family ticket but I don't know the cost of these My favourite time to visit is in winter when every thing is covered in frost, last year we had a lot of snow and there was fabulous snowmen everywhere. After a cold mornings walk I would recommend treating yourself to a nice hot drink in the lovely tea rooms open until 4:30 but closed on Mondays. A beautiful place that every one should visit and no excuses can be made for not doing so as this does not have to cost a penny." | |
