"A big chain is usually sloppy, uniformed and standardised across the chain, so you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was when visiting Zizzi's restaurant in Leeds with a group of girls from work to find the place feeling intimate, welcoming and surprisingly authentic. Instantly it felt warm and welcoming and I would happily have spent several hours sat in here gossiping, eating and drinking wine. I have heard mixed reviews about this restaurant so it possibly has a different ambiance over the weekend when a lot more people are in but with it being a wet and windy Tuesday it was a perfect location for a lovely evening. This place often has deals on such as buy one get one for a £1 or 50% off so it is worth checking out the website before going. |When we were here we had buy one get one for 10p vouchers as it was their 10th anniversary I assume. House wine was nice and starters where delicious we all ordered a variety and shared. Main course is always tricky in an Italian; I always fancy Spaghetti Bolognaise but have very high standards when eating this dish in an Italian so sometimes avoid this option, on this occasion I decided to be brave as all was good up to this point. A few drinks later and we was tucking into mains which I have to admit was lovely and felt very authentic and full of flavour with out all the oils…. And no mushrooms (I hate, hate, hate it when restaurants put mushrooms in all their dishes it's like marmite, love or hate) service was really good and the meal didn't feel at all rushed like is often the case with big chains. This could have easily been run by an Italian family. As mentioned above always check for vouchers before visiting as your average meal is likely to be around £20 but with vouchers this can often be halved although not as much of a choice. Is located opposite the Corn exchange so very close to the bars on Call Lane which make a nice end to the evening."
