"A great find in a not so nice place, we stumbled across this restaurant after a boys day out in Castleford (I was accepted as a member for the day and under strict instructions to act male like) We ventured into many pubs around the Castleford area and was lucky to get out of a couple in one piece, it is very much a local place for local people. The highlight of the day was most definitely stumbling across this little place, not knowing the area we wandered around trying to find a suitable venue to feast within and being a male for the day I was not allowed to complain my feet where aching which was very much the case and then on the horizon the smell of curry filled the air.
This place doesn't look much on the outside but is pleasantly clean and modern on the inside, the service is great and the waiters enjoy a bit of banter with their customers. Around £6 per main course this place is a real bargain as the quality of the food is brilliant. I am very critical of Indian food as I am a massive lover and this was one of my favourites while living locally, now we have moved slightly further away we still make an effort to eat here every now and again. On Wednesdays and Sundays they have a small buffet with a select few dishes, as much as you want for £7 - £8 and unlike most buffets this is top quality hence why it is only limited to a few dishes. They only put so much of each dish out at a time so it is always hot and if they think it has been out too long or is running low then they just replace it. I cannot praise this place enough and apart from at weekends am surprised it is so quiet through the week but this could be down to people not knowing of its existence. Last time we visited we mentioned how this was the only thing we missed about moving away and although we had moved several miles away they offered to deliver takeaways free of charge for us. We still receive a Christmas card each year and I love the family feel to this place. If you are in the area then make sure you check this place out, reservations are not normally required as it is usually fairly quiet but always very welcoming. Open until late each evening it is located a short walk from the bus and train station and definitely worth checking out" | |
