"Owned and operated by Durham University The Oriental Museum is a Asian art, antiquities, and material culture museum.

Located just outside the city centre near Durham Universiy's Science Site, the museum is simple to find and easily accessible by car. If using public transport there is a bus stop nearby and it's a short walk from the city centre, but be warned it's all uphill!

It was opened in 1960 and is home to an extremely large collection of pieces from all over the world, the collection covers the entire range of our history and includes items from civilisations and cultures of Asia, Egypt, Islamic North Africa, the Near, and Mid-East.

Thay try to keep the museum fresh by having guest exhibitions and collections. Everytime I go I see something new!

The museum is open to the public, but during term time it is visited a lot by schools, certainly the first time that I visited was with my primary school."
