"Bowlees Picnic Area is located in Middleton in Teesdale not far from Barnard Castle. It's easy to find and well signposted. On site there is parking although on nice days these fill up pretty quickly. There are also toilets on site.

The picnic area is the starting point for a number of different walks, the most popular leading to High Force which is a a large natural waterfall. Other walks lead to 3 other waterfalls and they are all different intensities so can can have a gentle stroll or a more demanding walk. There is also a footpath leading to Gibson's Cave, although I was a little disappointed by this as it wasn't much more than an overhang.

Well worth a visit if you like outdoorsy pursuits!"
