"Located in Meadowfield, about 3 miles outside of Durham City Centre, it is one of a number of council operated leisure centres in and around Durham. It has a large car park that is monitored by CCTV cameras.

It offers a wide number of different leisure activities for people of all ages. The facilities on offer include
- 5 a side football
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Badminton
- Squash
- Combat Room
- Weights room
- Cardiovascular suite
- Creche
- Meeting Room
- Aerobics
- Outdoor floodlit astroturf pitch

The main hall can also be rented out for childrens parties and during the summer months there seems to be a party on every weekend! The centre has a bouncy castle that can be rented out to go in the hall.

While it does not have a cafe or juice bar like some of the trendy gyms, there are vending machines for those needing some refreshment.

I'm not sure if they still do it, but in the past the hall has been used for under 18 dance events.

During school holidays the centre runs a kids club. This is very popular and I know a lot of people who have used the service and everybody has been very pleased with no complaints.

The outdoor astroturf pitch is full size and is used very regularly by local teams. It seems to be well looked after and maintained.

There is also a small childrens park to the front which can be used by anyone, although when I say small, it's very small and not really worth a visit.

It is open from 8.00am - 10.00pm Monday to Thursday, 8.00am - 9.00pm on Fridays and 9.00am - 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Last admission is one hour before close and the centre is closed on bank holidays

Memberships can be tailored to the facilities you will use so can vary in price. In general I think the prices is very reasonable."
