"Located in Langley Park, several miles outside o Durham City, Diggerland is a theme park where children and adults can ride in, drive and watch different types of construction machinery including Dumper Trucks, Mini Diggers and Giant Diggers.

There are lots of trained staff members about who can go into further detail about the working of the machinery if needed and everything is fully supervised.

Besides the farm machinery, Diggerland also has more tradition attractions, although these are mostly catered towards younger children. Example of rides include Go Karts, a small train, spindizzy and the Diggerland Dodgems although these are charged at an extra £1 a go.
If you feel a bit peckish there is an onsite cafe called The Dig Inn which has a selection of snacks, burgers and salads. Personally I would recommend taking a picnic as the food, like most theme parks, is overpriced and nothing special.

The main thing that puts me off going back to Diggerland is the price. Under 3's are free, but for children over 3 and adults the cost for each ticket is £15. Senior Citizens pay £7.50. Although this does cover an unlimited number of rides or turns on the machinery I felt it just wasn't good value for money. I also didn't like the fact that children aged 3 still cost £15 even though the minimum age for several of the rides is 5 years. Disabled visitors will pay the same rate, but are allowed to have a carer accompany them free of charge.

The park will reopen in February and run through till October. It is mainly closed to the public on weekdays apart from school holidays, which leads me nicely onto my next point. The park is available for hire for corporate events, I presume these are held during the week.

So, unless you really want the experience of driving a tractor, I would be tempted to give Diggerland a miss. The North East has so many brilliant attractions which are far better value."
