"I must be fair, I was a little put off when I saw that this Pub was a sports bar and was nervous that, at a weekday lunchtime, Id still somehow be blasted with TVs blaring out whatever sport happened to be on. But, Id been christmas shopping and was weary and hungry, desperate for somewhere to sit down and all the coffee shops seemed full to bursting, when we noticed the small notice advertising that the Bar does food. So, apprehensions stuffed down in my shopping bags, we ventured in! However, the place had nice, clean decor and was only sparsely populated with drinkers, leaving plenty of tables to sit at. Hooray!! Yes, there were several TV's but they were down low and had subtitles on, allowing some nice music to be heard at an acceptable level. This Bar is actually a very friendly place and the lovely staff come up to say hi, make recommendations and help us settle, with none of the hard sell or indifference Ive experienced at other Bars when wanting to eat.
Having seen my stick, they dismissed my efforts to order at the Bar as the signs requested, and took my orders at the table; first for reviving drinks then for food. And rather surprisingly, the pub does some wonderful food! After a short wait, our rather large main courses arrived and we even squeezed in a dessert, although we had to share one and barely finished it because the main meals were so generous! A very nice cup of Latte finished me off and I could have happily stayed there all afternoon! For 2 adults, with 2 mains, 1 dessert and also a glass of wine and J20, we had change out of £13! Bargain!!
Ive since been back with my husband and kids for sunday lunch and was once again met with (different)very friendly staff who were very efficient. Again, our food was of a generous portion, well cooked and tasted lovely. Sunday lunch portion was HUGE, as was my daughter's child's portion of the sunday lunch which would have put an adult's to shame!! But again, the staff were lovely and very family-orientated, encouraging and rewarding my daughter to eat her lunch. Again, the TV's were showing sport but not excessively loud and I would have no hesitation taking children in there agin. A little gem!!"
