"You know how it is, you have finished work on a Friday afternoon and had the most hectic week and cant bare being sat at home on the sofa just watching the usual garbabe on tv.... Then why not jump in the car and take the experience and relaxation weekend break you will NOT forget! Thats exactly what my partner and I done!!
Friday afternoon, Sat down wondering what to watch on TV, What to have to eat, Who was gonna wash up etcc etc... you know how it is!
So we took a short drive down the A48 and booked in to Bed and Breakfast.
The Bed and Breakfast was sat right in the grounds to a pub as well in a small villiage called Aylburton> BONUS!
We can get some food, have a drink go for a walk and go to sleep!
So that is exactly what we did! this is a short diary of how our break went.....
Friday 5pm - jumped in car looking for all the above!
6pm found B&B and a pub joint on to it! (£49.00 for a double room as of 15th jan 06) (that serves food!) with a short booking in time we were in the room and ready to eat drink and be merry!
7.30pm Walked across the carpark to the little country pub (The George - owned by the same people as the B&B www.Millingbrooklodge.com)
8.00pm sat eating a fantastic meal (we had spicy prawns, homemade lasagne and a stunning toffee dessert... mmmm)
8.45pm we left the eatery and relaxed in the locals lounge, a fantasic charectaristic place with some very welcoming people!
.....next day....
A little bit bleary eyed, testing out some of the real ales in the bar last night, tasted very good, not feeling too fine this morning... where did i put that resolve??
Later on after a great cooked breakfast also in the george we went for a short drive into the local town (literally 2 mins away in the car) or a comfortable 20 minutes walk!)
Lovely little town and lots of places to walk around we wandered around the boating lake and thorugh the parks and just chilled out.
That evening we basicially done it all over again!! hee hee
What an amazing place, such a slow and relaxed atmophere, This weekend was one to remember, we entered the small villiage as strangers and left as friends with many. (you feel like family when you leave)
This is a must go to short or long break destination.
A48 is easy to find off the M48 & M4 Motorways through Chepstow south wales.
www.millingbrooklodge.com - this is where the B&B is and the George Pub. aylburton Forest of Dean Gloucestershire..."
