"SPIRIT is one of the more the up-market bars on Manchester's gay village. Regardless if it's a Monday lunchtime or a Saturday evening, you always feel like you're getting the best. The decor is nice and modern, and that along with the atmosphere makes you feel like you're going to bump into a superstar in there.
Daily, during the week Spirit serves food. Nothing spectacular, just the usual type of bar meals, but everything you get looks and tastes like it has been prepared by expert hands. The wine is always of the highest quality and all drinks are presented like you're in an exclusive cocktail bar. All of this and prices are fairly average.
At the weekend Spirit gets VERY busy so you may be stood at the bar for 10-20 minutes waiting to be served. You might also notice (probably with a feeling of mild annoyance) that the staff serve their friends first, regardless of how many people are already waiting, and for how long.
The Spirit crowd is mixed, but mostly gay. It is in genral a very friendly crowd, to the point that it can take you forever to get back from using the toilet because you're talking to so many 'new friends' in there! Some of the people in Spirit can a ppear a little cliquey but that's nothing unusual for Canal Street.
This is definitely one of the better bars on the Gay Village, rivalled in quality only by Via Fossia."
