"Situated on the outskirts of Manchester City Centre, Deansgate Locks is basically a row of posh bars. From the famous Comedy store on the left, to the exclusive Sugar Lounge on the right, there's something for everyone (over 18) here! Dress code on Deansgate Locks is fairly strict - no sportswear allowed whatsoever (including trainers).

The Comedy Store is well known nationally, and people flock from all over the UK to see live stand-up comedians here. The last show I went to see at the Comedy Store wsas the Dove Naked Tour; comedy by women for women, which was presented by Arabella Weir.

Sugar Lounge is on the opposite end of Deansgate Locks to The Comedy Store. It can be quite difficult to get into Sugar Lounge, unless you're escorted by a footballer or know the door staff. Once you're inside the drapes on the walls, low music and quiet chatter makews you realise you're in an exclusive place. As you walk through it's not unusual to see football players, especially Manchester United players, usually surrounded by 50 girls. Sugar Lounge is very expensive but if you're willing to cough up it's worth it.

The other bars on Deansgate Locks are:

Baa Bar. This is without doubt the Student's favourite. Mostly because of the £1 shooters and bottles, and all the special offers that are always on. Baa Bar is fairly small and the unisex toilets are certainly interesting to say the least. Cheap and cheerful, a real winner!

Next Fat Cats Cafe Bar. This is one of the nicer bars on Deanmsgate Locks, and like many of them is huge inside. Fat Cats' prices are fairly average: above those in Baa Bar but way below those in Sugar Lounge. Wine is always of a good standard and Lunchtimes in Fat Cats are great - nice food and fast service.
As with all the bars on Deansgate Locks weekends become VERY busy.

Next up we have Loaf. Possibly the most well-known bar here, it has a beautifully constructed bar and the decor is gorgeous. The atmosphere is usually great in Loaf, really friendly. The booze is priced slightly higher than average but that's to be expected for such a lovely, vibrant place. Loaf is MASSIVE inside, with 2 floors and about 4 bars. Despite this you'll always be queueing for some time to get served. Upstairs is just a bar whereas downstairs there are two dancefloors, which often have different DJs to accomodate for all tastes.

Next is Revolution. There are Revolution bars all over Manchester but none quite match up to this one. Known for the selection of flavoured vodkas - from chilli to chocolate - Revolution is definitely a bar that i'd recommend. The interior is enormous, with comfy seating areas upstairs and then the club downstairs. Once again, queues are likely to be large.

Finally, The Lock. Offers a restaurant, bar and members area with seating downstairs. Rather expensive in here but the food is amazing, and that's no joke. Staff are friendly and service is good.

All in all Deansgate Locks equate to an excellent day or night out."
