"If your looking for a pub thats peaceful, relaxing, friendly and warm, welcome to the Ark Royal, Wells Next The Sea! From the moment you step through its doors, you feel right at home, as it has a cosy decor and the friendliest people in North Norfolk. The name Ark Royal comes from the famous ship, the HMS Ark Royal, which was commissioned in the 30's. Don't miss their replica model of the ship, situated in the main bar area. Allow me to tell you about The Ark Royal in a little more detail:
The Building:
A reasonably old building, with plenty of character. It is quite large in size, and has the main bar area, a resturant and a kids play area. There is also a beer garden and massive car park.
The Drinks:
The Ark Royal has a fantastic selection of drinks, and more are added monthly, when customers demand. Real Ale drinkers amonst you will be delighted to hear that they always have a huge selection of ales, ready to enjoy. The pub has several lagers and ciders, and a massive selection of spirits, including some rare whiskys. There is also a house selection, for those on a budget. For the kids, there is the usual selection of coke, lemonade etc. Tea/coffee can also be ordered if required
The Atmosphere:
You will find the atmosphere at this pub warm and welcoming. The people during the off peak months are 95% locals and 5% tourists, but during peak months can swing the other way round to 95% tourists to 5% locals! You will find the local people very chatty, they don't mind having a natter over a nice drink. It is a very relaxed and informal pub, during the summer, you will find people come in wearing just shorts and nothing else! There is no chance of a noisy crowd, youths/underage drinkers or fights here.
The Prices:
Reasonable. Expect to pay average prices for lager, cider and real ales, and slightly over average prices for spirits and soft drinks/mixers.
Resturant/Bar Food:
The Ark Royal has a wonderful menu of food, comprising of quality home cooked meals made with local produce, where available. The quality of the food served is always top notch, irrelevant of what time of year you go, and how busy they are.
Children:
Well behaved children are always welcome. Within the pub, there is a childrens room which has various forms of entertainment, including a football table. It is like their own little bar, and they will love it. Rest assured, there is no way for them to get out if you want a quiet drink!
Pets:
It is always worth asking the bar if you can bring your dog in, as if it is not busy, and the pet is well behaved, they may allow this off peak. Otherwise, during the summer, dogs are welcome in the front beer garden. No, I would not reccommend you take your pet spider, hamster or any other rodent in though!
Gaming And Entertainment:
There is one fruit machine in the Ark Royal, Connect Four at last inspection. There is also the childrens room which, as mentioned above, has other forms of entertainment which adults will enjoy too!
Special Events:
These sometimes take place at the ark royal, including a car boot sale in the car park, during peak season. Check with the friendly staff for other information about upcoming events.#

The Ark Royal is situated on Freeman Street, near the town centre, opposite the pop in leisure. Any of the local shops will guide you there, you can't miss it!
