"Having been to york for several days out and weekends away, there is always something great to do and im finding new things there all the time! York is an historical town with many places of interest. York minister is one of the biggest attraction, a beautiful medievil gothic cathederal brimming with 800 year old stained glass windows and impressive gothic carvings. Open from easter time through to October a definate place you have to visit! Or if thats not your taste you could travel back almost 1000 years and visit the fascinating yorvik viking museum, exploring reconstructed viking streets and examine artifacts found on the actual site where the museum is (above the original viking city of yorvik!). Amonst the many attractions is the regimental museum, take a walk along the shambles, the national railway museum, york castle museum, york dungeons (a favourite of mine) theres many, many historicle buildings and castles.
And when you finally have time for a quick break you can choose from one of the many bars and cafes in the city center, where there are numerous choices of food and drink!York is full of so many things to see and do you'll need plenty of spare time to explore this beautiful city. There is plenty of public transport to take you to and from almost everywhere you want to go. Travelling by car York is situated about 20 mins from the M1/M62 motorway network, about halfway between london and edinburgh. By train it is less than from london! I hope you find the time to look around this wonderful city and enjoy it as much as I do."
Comments Submitted by dewberry I visited the Jorvik museum as a kid and it was brilliant fun, I'm thinking about taking the kids during the summer - we'll check out the dungeons while we're there.YSUK Rating +1341 on Saturday, 3rd June 2006, 6:09pm
