"Whenever i used to go visiting my gran, she'd take us all out for family meal, it would allways be to this restaurant J.d whetherspoons inside of the Glass house. I regulary take the family out once a month or on special occasions as its great value for money and lovely surroundings. Theres a large range of dished to choose from but we tend to have our own special dish we get whenever we visit.
For me it has to be Chicken Vindaloo, not one for those not to keen on spicy dishes this curry is rated 5 peppers= extremely hot! It comes speially presented in a little sliver bowl so you can dip any sides into it. It consists of large, juicy tender chicken breasts in a hot sauce with peppers,red onion and a variety of mixed vegetables. With a side helping of yellow pillar rice, 2 large naan breads, a small tub of mano chutney and 3 large, crispy,slightly toasted popodums. To wash it down you can select any drink from the menu either soft drink, a variety of mixers, beers or wines. All for £4.95 its great value for money.
My eldest daugher gets reasonable the same but in her case its tender,juicy cuts of beef in more milder madras sauce but just as juicy! again for only £4.95 it isn't breaking the bank.
My other daughter also chooses from the main menu, but she goes for a healthier option, Tuna baguette.
This consists of a large tuna mayonnaise filled baguette with warm mixes salad and the option to add healthy mafe chips and a soft drink. This cost £2.99 and an extra 50p for a drink. Very cheap for a filling meal.
My son also chooses from the main menu, he gets a juicy, double bacon-lamb burger with cheese. This huge meal is more like a "scooby snack" , it comes with chips, a tub of tomatoe ketchup and mixed salad and a drink. But for £3.99 its worth it.
My youngest daughter chooses from the specially made "kiddies menu" all meals are £2.99 and come with any soft drink or cartoned drink, a desert,an activity pack and free fruit bag. Not bad as it keeps her amused while she waits for her meal. She gets 2x pork sausages, rich mash with an onion gravey- an alternative to chips. They also do rich vegetable chicken curry's, spaghetti, fish fingers, chips and peas, and on sundays the option for either a mini sunday roadst or nut roast, this contains the same contents as an adults portion but a smaller "child" size. With a drink and dessert its well worth the money. They also do staters and ight bites and snacks.
Its not just the food though that makes this place as magnificent as it is. Its very welcoming and stylish. Theres a special non-smoking family area with little private "booths" so that no-one is watching you eat. The tables are ready set with napkins,cutlery and little "enjoy your meal" notes, which gives it an added touch! There are J.d whetherspoons all over the country, which is very good if your on holiday and want to pop in. Theres a bar and seating area if you've come in for a peaceful drink which is really nice if you fancy getting away from the kids. Some restaurants even have a childrens play area outside which is good to let them let of some steam while you relax. The whole restaurant and pub has a whole relaxed atmosphere to it, which makes it that more comfortable and enjoyable for all the family.
I can remember the first time i went to whether spoons and as you can see i havent forgot it either
