"The recipe for a great camping break - mix one tent, with a sprinkle of friends and family - then take to Newport Caravan park - Its a splendid treat for everyone! We have just returned from here after a weekend break, and I can honestly say that it was one of the best times ever! Here is my guide to this fantastic park, and how you can make the most out of your trip

LOCATION
Newport Caravan Park is located in Hemsby, which is around 5 miles from the popular seaside resort of Great Yarmouth. Follow signs to Hemsby when reaching Great Yarmouth. When entering Hemsby, take the first right down Newport Road, and follow to the bottom. You cannot miss it. Expect journey times of around 4 hours from London, and around the same from Birmingham as a guide. For a fantastic free route planner, why not check out www.theaa.com where you can plan and print your root for free.

THE STAFF AND GREETING
The staff on arrival are very friendly and informative. They fully explain all safety aspects of the site, and issue club passes. Their friendliness makes you feel right at home straight away. Also, someone is around to speak to 24 hours, be it the staff or security.

THE CAMPING AREA ITSELF
Newport Caravan site truly is a superb place, for the family, or groups of friends alike. Lets start with the camping fields. There is adequate space for many tents, and the grass is well maintained, and flat! There are various WC's and shower block around the site, which are very clean and well kept. The campsite has a good spacing policy; They ensure that there is adequate space between tents, to avoid crowding. Also, another good point to note, there is no rocks under the ground surface (those who put the tent up with pegs will know what I mean)

ENTERTAINMENT
Newport Caravan Park has a collection of amenities, which will suit everyone. For the kids (and big kids!) there is an amusement arcade on site, featuring the latest gaming machines - in addition to this, the children will love exploring the nearby area, which is full of fun attractions, amusements and other forms of entertainment. For the adults, the clubhouse on site is fantastic, and offers a good selection of drinks, with good prices too. The entertainment is second to none, with great new performers on stage, during peak times. Entrance to the clubhouse is included in your camping price.

FOOD
On site there is a fully stocked shop. The shop offers everything from Barbecue food, to tobacco and the prices are very fair. Whatever you need, you should be able to get it. In addition to this, there is a fish n chip shop plus a diner. The chip shop is open til late, and the diner also open late at peak times. A few minutes from the site, you will also find a Spar convenience store and a Chinese takeaway (2 min walk up Newport street)

SWIMMING
Apart from the sea (if you are feeling brave) there are 2 swimming pools within 400 yards of the campsite. The reception will be happy to provide maps and details of where they are. One is indoor and one outdoor.

CAMPSITE POLICY
The campsite will not allow all male or all female parties under 25 (BUT, they may make exception if you ask in advance) They say "it is a family campsite, and we respect comments of previous customers" Camping stoves and cooking equipment/barbecues are fine, and in general there are no real rules of regulations - just keep the noise down after 10, or security will be on you!

HEMSBY ITSELF
Hemsby is your typical British seaside resort, offering sea, sand and some other stuff (sorry could not think of my usual rhymes!) The beach is of good quality, and is actually only a few minutes walk from the caravan site. Be careful of the tides though, which vary and can be dangerous. Hemsby has a whole host of different shops, arcades, pubs and bars, just waiting for visitors. The area is quite pleasant, and is described as Great Yarmouth Jr.
