"You can discover a fantastic and fascinating past world when you visit this urban heritage park in the shadow of Dudley Castle at the heart of the Black Country. Historic buildings from all around the Black Country have been moved and authentically rebuilt at the Museum, to create a tribute to the traditional skills and enterprise of the people that once lived in the heart of industrial Britain.
Take a ride on the authentic electric tramcars and trolleybuses back in time from the modern exhibition halls to the canal-side village, where costumed demonstrators and working craftsmen bring the buildings to life with their local knowledge, practical skills and unique Black Country humour.
Set in 26 acres of history there is barely time to fit everything in: but must do's are - visit the 'Bottle and Glass Inn' for traditionally brewed beers and soft drinks (the Ginger Beer is amazing!, fill up with cod and chips from he 1930's style fish & chip shop (prices approx £3 for 'adult sixe portion - but worth every penny!) Be prepared to Queue. Buy traditional sweet and cakes form the various on site ' historical' shops
Go back to school and have a lesson using slate and chalk - BEWARE - you may get picked on by the teacher! Go to the cinema - and watch some classic black and white 20's silent movies. pretend you are a miner and take an underground tour complete with hard hat and torches. (not for those with claustrophobia - it is dark! and deep underground!)
The whole experience is fasinating to all ages and there is definately something for everyone. Admission is Adults - £11/Senior Citizens - £9/Kids (5-18) - £6/under 5's - FREE. Family tickets are available - 2 Adults/2 Children - £30. Guide Books are £3 - but you get a FREE map with your tickets - which lists times of events (ie - school classes/mining trips) Opening times vary throughout the year - see www.bclm.co.uk"
