"The Birmingham nature centre is located on Pershore road birmingham. The admission fee is £1.70 for adults but children accompanied by a paying adult go free. If a child is under five the adults have a reduced admission of £1.40.Concessions are £1.10.
I was really surprised when I decided to take the kids here.Firstly I shall tell you what I thought I was going to see : A few pets corner animals in a couple of pens and a shop.Lets face it the admission isn't that much so it can't be that good..Right.
Wrong.The Birmingham Nature reserve is fantastic.With animals ranging from Red pandas to beavers and my favourite the lynx you really have a lot to see.Of course there are many others including birds and a lovely pets corner with a cuteunfortunately guinea pig village that my daughter loved.Although when we went it was raining on and off my kids and I had a marvellous time with a surprise round every corner.The pens and houses are designed with kids in mind I think and have a panoramic view so there is very little need to pick up the kids to see the animals.
There is an onsite cafe and the food is very good value for money.It is a bit basic but just what the kids need.You can get a hot cup of coffee and rest your weary legs while the kids play in the free soft play area at the rear of the shop.
After I am sure you'll want to carry on your visit and be sure to see the reptile and insect houses.There are some very weird creatures in the reptile house,and some very big hairy ones in the insect house.Around the site you are sure to see and meet the very friendly chickens and peacocks that roam around.
On our trip were two kids aged 5 and 8.They both thoroughly enjoyed the day and we went round the centre at least twice that day and saw more on the second time round as more animals had come out to see the crowds. It is nicely laid out and has a level path all the way round with plenty of access around the site for pushchairs and wheelchairs and guide dogs are welcome.The car park is a bit bumpy though.
When you do decide to leave don't forget to visit the gift shop, they have loads of things to buy at really good prices.Lots less than £1.50 more than enough to please the kids.
Overall I was amazed at what we found at the birmingham nature centre , I really enjoyed the visit as much as the kids and have been four times since and will be visiting many times again in the future.This year I shall be purchasing a season ticket.If you are looking for a cheap place to take the kids that you will all enjoy you will not beat this centre.
Check the website for special events but you must book places in advance as they go quickly...

We live a few minutes drive away from the nature centre and I think it's great for adults and kids. My daughters' particularly love the pets corner as they can play with the rabbits and guinea pigs, but I adore the red panda's because they're so cute!
