"A fairly recent addition to the Coastline of Liverpool is Anthony Gormley's "Another Place".

Lifelike in size, and completely naked, 100 of these cast iron male figures are visible on the beach and in the shallow water. They are said to be an exact replica of Gormley, even downstairs if you catch my drift.

Gormley was responsible for the Angel of the North in Gateshead in 1998 and has a extensive list of works.

The Iron men stretch from Seaforth docks right up to Formby point and can take a good hour or so to walk from one end to the other. At special times in the year the men are dressed by the locals in football kits, Father Christmas outfits, bathing costumes and much more.

The experience of these men is different in different weathers and at different times of the day too. I have been several times now and each time I have felt different."

There's a link down the left hand column for times of high/low tides. Just thought I'd post this since I was looking for the info myself & there didn't seem to be an answer here.

Could you let me know the tides at this time of year (Nov 2007)nickweale13/11/2007
I haven't been to this part of the world since 1967 when shooting at Altcar with the Royal Marines. So much change and yet still the same. The Iron Men are strange yet very poinient. I hope they stay until they rust away. A reminder of our mortality perhaps?Bob Lucas28/04/2008
