"Lyme Regis is a seaside town on the South coast of England. It is protected by hills on the landward sides which gives it an intimate, exclusive feel, and makes for a good relaxing holiday. Our large rented house was just yards from the beach, and the sound of the waves lapping onto the shingle beach was an excellent way to drop of to sleep each night. By day there are wonderful walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside, in between searching for the fossils which seem to fall out of every rock along the shore. And if you don't manage to find one there are several shops which will sell you anything from the almost microscopic to real monsters (but I think they import some of those !). This town, which was made famous along with the surrounding area by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's "River Cottgae" television series, gives you everything you would expect from a seaside holiday, including oodles of delicious fresh fish on tap. You are 8 miles from Bridport, and 20 from Weymouth for some more energetic nighttime entertainment. All in all a fully recommended destination."

Comments Submitted by dewberry Lyme Regis is a lovely place. I remember my dad was based here for a while and the couple of months I spent there was fantastic - even as an awkward 12 year old I had no real complaints!YSUK Rating +1341 on Sunday, 2nd July 2006, 12:03am | |
