"The caves are 1.5 miles south of Coleford town centre in Gloucestershire.
From Coleford town centre follow the B4228 to St Briavels and Chepstow. After approximately 1 mile, turn right for Clearwell village (immediately after the Lambsquay Hotel). The car and coach park is immediately visible on your left after a few hundred yards.
Clearwell caves are a veritable feast of history and facts about working mines. Although no longer a working mine, tours go through the actual caves throughout the year with seasonal specials on key holidays (open during the christmas holidays with exception of christmas day and boxing day) with a fabulous father christmas and snowman theme.
Within the caves there is a freshwater pool, with naturally clear drinkable water, and lots of little caverns and crevasses, all fully accessable with a pushchair, children and adults of all ages will love this attraction.
The gift shop sells some very different items, rings made out of mined produce, windchimes and fossils and is genrally in-expensive. A must see place for all visitors to the forest of dean."
