"Alverstoke is a picturesque village on the outskirts of Gosport. The village is medieval and it has the beautiful Church of St. Mary's which is the centre piece of the village. Along the narrow, winding roads there is a selection of antique shops which are lovely to browse around. To help you find out about the history of Alverstoke you can also pick up a self guided trail leaflet from the local Tourist Information Centre.
The highlight of Alverstoke (for me) is a visit to The Village Fish Bar. The fish and chips are amazing! They finish each piece of fish with a wedge of lemon and they are cooked to perfection. Be warned though there is usually a queue of about 10 deep on a Friday and Saturday night - it is a very popular destination but well worth the visit!" | |
