Nab Cottage is ideally located with low level walks. There are waterfalls, caves, lake, river and Dove Cottage, Wordsworth's home. You can walk to Ambleside and Grasmere Village 2 miles away with restaurants, galleries, cinemas, museum, swimming pools and you can go boating on Windermere lake. For more challenging fell walks there's Fairfield horseshoe, Red screen, Langdale, the Dodds and Helvellyn.
With Rydal Water across the road you can use our Canadian canoe and fishing permits can be bought in Ambleside.
500 metres along the lake is Rydal Village with Rydal Hall and Rydal Mount which are open to the public. The local pub the Badger Bar serves food all day.

From the South: Exit the M6 at Junction 36 following the A591 into the Lake District. Passing Winderemere continue through Ambleside and the Rydal where you will find Nab Cottage 500 metres along on the right.
From the North: Exit the M6 at Junction 40 taking the A66 towards Keswick. After 12 miles take the left turning for Ambleside/Windermere which joins the A591 after a few miles. Continue left to the top of Dunmail Raise drop down towards Grasmere. You will find Nab Cottage 2 miles after Grasmere village just after the White Moss Hotel.

Nab Cottage is a Guest House in an idyllic location. Built in the mid 16th Century there are 7 guest bedrooms with lake or fell views. Most of the bedrooms have private shower and toilet with each individually decorated with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There is WiFi access in all rooms and tea and coffee making facilities.
Guests are very welcome to make use of the downstairs sitting room where there is a log fire, dining room with computer and piano and a small television room. You can relax with a book on the window seats taking in the view or watch a film in the old opium room, plan the day ahead and enjoy a meal.
Served between 8:30-9:30am breakfast includes fresh fruit/grapefruit, yoghurt, juices, cereals and porridge followed by a cooked breakfast. Made with fair-trade and fresh organic produce where possible the cooked breakfast includes bacon, eggs, Cumberland/Vegetarian sausage, beans, tomato and mushroom. There's also homemade bread and marmalade.
If you are heading out for the day a packed lunch can be arranged.
Between 4-9pm a snack menu of freshly made soup, flat breads, vegetarian dips, olives, homemade cakes/scones and hot drinks are available.
At 7pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, dinner is available if requested in advance. Mainly vegetarian, meat and fish dishes can be provided. Nab Cottage is not licensed so you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic drinks.
For a little extra relaxation massage, reiki and shiatsu treatments are available on request. Hatha yoga classes are also available on Monday evenings.
Next to the cottage is a barn conversion available to hire as a workshop venue with three rooms suitable e.g. for dancing, yoga and painting. The space opens out onto the back garden with tables, chairs, OHP, computer with broadband, flipcharts, sound system, sofas, blankets and cushions.
