The English Riviera in South Devon has 22 miles of coastline with 19 beaches (5 blue flag beaches and 9 coastal awards), coves, cliffs, walks and southern climate. Torbay is one of only six Geoparks with archaeological work being carried out at Kents Cavern to find out more about the Neanderthals living there tens of thousands of years ago.
Walkers can explore Dartmoor National Park with Dartmoor Ponies and hidden wonders including Widdecombe in the Moor. With two for one green fees at 11 golf courses in Devon and 13 in Cornwall, golfers have a great selection within easy reach of Abberley House.
Totnes, Elizabethan river town, is less than 30 minutes away. Dartington Hall has gardens and arts and music activities. Salcombe, Dartmouth, Dartmoor, Exeter and Plymouth are close by. Exit the M5 at Junction 31 onto the A38. Follow the signs for A380 Torquay following this road until you reach the roundabout at Newton Abbot. Take the second exit continuing on the A380 which is now a single carriageway. At the next roundabout take the first exit A3022 for Torquay Town Centre. At the third set of traffic lights with Curry's on your left, turn left onto Hele Road. Follow the road straight ahead with signs for Plainmoor and Torquay United Football Ground. At the roundabout take the right hand lane to continue straight on. At the mini roundabouts at the bottom of the hill turn left and then immediately right up the hill onto Westhill Road. On reaching the next set of traffic lights take the right hand lane to continue straight onto Warboro Road. Turn right before the Londis shop onto Hingston Road. At the end of this road turn left and Abberley House is a short distance ahead on your left.
From Torquay Harbour (Town Centre), turn left at the Clock Tower onto Torwood Street and onto Babbacombe Road. At the second zebra crossing about a mile ahead, turn left opposite St Matthias Church following the road up the hill. When the road forks take the right hand fork onto Windsor Road. Continue up and over the hill to the foot off the hill. At the top of the short rise you'll find Abberley House on the right just past All Saints Road.
From the A379 (Babbacombe Road) at Maidencombe, turn right at the roundabout next to the golf course signposted for Plainmoor/Torquay United Football Ground. Continue straight on at the mini roundabout at the bottom of the hill. Turn left up Westhill road and reaching the next set of traffic lights take the right hand lane to continue straight onto Warboro Road. Turn right before the Londis shop onto Hingston Road. At the end of this road turn left and Abberley House is a short distance ahead on your left.
